Depending on your financial disposition, as a landlord or property owner, it is always advisable to do background checks on all prospective tenants when possible. In my case, I was able to secure many successful landlord-tenant relations without exploring this avenue. The reason is because most of my tenants were professional engineers and medical practitioners who were largely prescreened by their companies HR department thus saving me the time and expense.
